All pear trees will pollinate each other except Seckel and Bartlett varieties. Pear trees should be planted close to each other, within 100 feet or so. Some early blooming European pears will cross-pollinate with late blooming Asian pears."
I've heard Bartlett trees described as "self pollinating," and at the isolated homestead I inherited, the lone Bartlett Pear was loaded
every year! One pollination chart shown it to be a fairly early bloomer; that might be the only problem regarding its ability to pollinate your unknown variety. But Bartlett would have been my first choice - good growing
