Hello-

Last month I was getting permission to collect scions from some of older fruit trees around where I live. While I was talking to one of the "old timers" about the types of trees on his property, he told me that one of the pear trees was a "pickling pear". He said that it wasn't a very good eating pear, but that it was used just for pickling and sort of implied that everyone around here had them. Is anyone in the forum familiar with the varieties used for pickling pears? It's a very small tree, about eight feet tall. Any ideas?
