Post relocating pear trees
Hello, this is my first post. I have 3 pear trees, approximately 5 years old, that were planted in my driveway, between the concrete that the car used to drive on, that I am hoping are movable. They are approx 20 feet tall, with trunks approx 4" in diameter. They all bear nice fruit. They are in the wrong place though. Anyone know how best to move them, if that is even possible, and does anyone want them? My husband and I would be happy to HELP with the digging.

There are professionals that move trees with trucks that have three to four hydraulic driven shovels that actually scoop up the tree and move it to another location,
If you open the link you can see the tree being moved. The success rate is fairly good.

Where are your trees? What pear varieties?

I imagine that pear trees have shallow roots like apple trees and would be fairly easy to move. I moved three apple trees with 3" - 4" trunks myself in 2005, one Liberty and two Jonagolds. I just dug them up when they were dormant and pruned them back to balance the amount of root I lost. I even had apples on the Liberty the first year and apples on the Jonagolds in 2006. It works good to dig closer to one side of the tree to get under it and then tip the tree over while digging and freeing the roots on the opposite side.
