Post apple blooms now?
My brother in Iowa planted a Zestar tree this summer. It was a potted tree.... about 10 gallon. It looked good when I looked at it in June. He has watered it weekly. There has been some deer damage. it is planted in heavy clay soil. Iowa, as most of the midwest, is in a severe drought.

He reports about a dozen blooms NOW in August. Any idea why this would happen and what it means?

thanks

The tree is just stressing out and adjusting to its new environment. I got blossoms on a couple of my trees the first year of planting in June and July. They won't actually be pollinated so of course the tree is just wasting its time trying to reproduce, but not to worry -- everything should return to normal in the second year after the tree is well adjusted.

This happens on my Mcintosh every so many years. I get a few blooms in Sept/Oct.

Don't worry about it.
