Post The Akane apple
I have been harvesting these. I am impressed by their distinctive flavor and aroma. They are also particularly beautiful. It's not just hype, people. I recommend it highly. Apparently not a storage apple though.

Post Re: The Akane apple
The Akane is one of my favorites now as well....

Consistently bears every year no matter how much or how little sun in the spring.......also somewhat scab resistant.....I had a couple that I protected simply with some ziplock plastic (more about that later) and I showed off one of them to a group on Thursday....this Akane apple had come from a tree that had been planted by someone on a public space and does well now with very little maintenance....beautiful apple.....low maintenance.....good is made for western Oregon and Washington....decent taste.
