 something strange on M26
If you can identify this, and advise me of appropriate action, it would be greatly appreciated.

 Re: something strange on M26
It looks like roots to me. One of my apple trees is always doing this, especially when I put a plastic tree wrap around it for any length of time. Did you have it wrapped or protected in any way before you noticed this, or is it a bare trunk? I don't worry about it here, usually they dry up, and the tree is fine, until next time.
Just my 2 cents worth. If someone thinks I am mistaken, please speak up.

 Re: something strange on M26
I've got a very similar picture and frightened question posted some years back. One of my two M111 trees does the same thing. It looks horrible. I was assured it is not a problem, and it hasn't done anything else to the tree.
