THINK SPRING: Orchard Care Seminar

On Saturday, January 21, 2012 we have planned a great way to sweep away the cobwebs of winter and launch your mind into spring. A four-speaker forum starts at 9 AM and runs until 12:30 PM. Join HOS and other local home orchardists to socialize, trade notes, and hear some great speakers!

Register through Clackamas Community College. Cost is $15 per person. Call 503-594-3292 or email a request to lorettam@clackamas.edu and a registration form will be sent to you. Pre-registration is suggested. Registration will be allowed at the door the morning of the lecture, if there is room.

Our Publications Chairperson, Jodi Gurtov, will have a table full of useful books for sale to further enhance your ability to plan, select, plant and grow a satisfying and successful edible landscape.

Join Portland’s premier espalier master to learn about establishing, pruning and maintaining your espaliered fruit trees. Espalier is a great space-saving way to fit a lot of trees in a small space, and there are some specific techniques and tools that ensure your espaliered trees stay healthy and productive.

I emailed Loretta about the pre-registration. She said that one should probably email Thursday or Friday, to be able to respond back with preregistration on Friday. Of course, if you don't preregister on Friday, you can just register on Saturday.

It doesn't look like you'll be missing any great gardening weather if you go, and it's only in the morning.
