I'm not having any luck finding information about how to plant a bare root grape vine. I did plant it yesterday but now I am having doubts. My biggest question is how deep to plant it. One place I read to plant at the same level as in the nursery, but no way to tell.

I did plant it deep enough so that the roots could spread out. What is above ground now is 17" and has one main stem and another coming off at a wide angle at about 6" above ground. I would guess there is probably 6 or so inches of stem below ground.

I'm also confused about the pruning to do now.

My plan is to grow it up a fence and keep it quite small.

Thanks for any help or pointers on where to look further!!

I think you did a good job. Just keep it watered and lightly fertilized, if your ground is marginal, through the hot summer months. Miracle grow type nutes work well. Some will advocate for organic stuff. To each his own!

Grapes are pretty hard to screw up on.

Weed suppression for a couple feet in all directions is really nice. Allows the grape to get established sooner and better. Think newspaper or cardboard mulch with grass clippings on top.

Don't forget to keep it hydrated!
