11:00 AM: LOWELL CORDAS
Lowell is our “Tool Guy” but he has also been studying Fruit Rootstocks. He will be sharing information about the ‘international world of fruit rootstocks’. And, of course, he will answer questions about his many quality gardening tools.
12:30 PM: JIM OLIPHANT
Jim is the Plant Propagator at the National Clonal Germplasm Repository in Corvallis. He can help you be successful in growing berries in your yard. The flora and fauna that share the environment with your small fruits are the key to success. Be sure to come armed with questions, because he loves to share his knowledge.
2:00 PM: JOSEPH POSTMAN
Joseph is the curator of the pear collection at the National Clonal Germplasm Repository in Corvallis. He is a world traveler; studying pears, their cultivation, the many varieties flourishing around the globe. Over the last several years he has fine-tuned the list of favorites of the more than 1,000 in the orchard. If you are unsure what variety to grow, don’t know if it needs a pollinator, have questions of how to use the fruit – Joseph is happy to share his knowledge and expertise.
12 Noon: RON SPENDAL
Ron will tell you “How to Raise Mason Bees”. There are new challenges Mason Bees are facing. Ron will share his vast knowledge about these important pollinators, the best housing for them, and why they are key to success in your fruit orchard.
1:30 PM: MARISHA AUERBACH
Marisha is an expert in permaculture and presents classes at local universities. The word “Permaculture” is used by many, but its’ application is often misunderstood. Marisha clears up the question “what is it?”, explains why you should try it, and then suggests “the way to put permaculture to work in your own yard”.
