6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Join our arboretum manager Tonia for a day of guided hands-on summer pruning instruction/practice. We will start the day with a brief introduction and demonstration on the best summer pruning practices for pome fruits (apples and pears). After the demonstration and a chance to ask questions each student will work on one tree that will be hand selected according to their confidence and skill level. This class is great for the novice as well as a more seasoned pruner who wants to build confidence and speed.
This class requires you to bring sharpened tools:
hand pruner, and loppers (by-pass only, no anvil type pruners) and a hand saw.
Pre-registration is required
Sliding scale fee: $10-20
(payable the day of class with cash or check made out to Home Orchard Society)
Remember to wear comfortable work clothes and sturdy shoes, bring a refillable water bottle and a light snack or lunch.
